Teaching and writing materials for migrant learners in Australia

Read about Australia: ESL Easy Read books

This is a new series – of course I have plans for so many titles, but for now, here are the first four: elementary level, literacy style reading books, 40pp, full colour, meeting requests from librarians for easy-read non-fiction!

As you can see here, there are worksheets that learners can download from a link in the back of the book (thebooknextdoor.com/australia). There’s also slow-read audio which they can find on YouTube (same link).

Thanks to inspiration from trialling teacher Angela Whyte (NMTAFE), I’ve also put up some pre-reading slide sets for teachers, together with downloadable audio – you can find this through the same link, just see the Teachers section at the bottom of the page.

This is what the interior looks like (below): you can see the ‘easy-read’ large print text, as I had in mind those learners who are now in an EAL2 class, but are reading in a new script and maybe in a new direction…

The books are on Amazon, but of course available through your usual language bookshop or library supplier. Hope you like them!
